Happy As A Lark branches into the digikal realm with a version excursion produced by Nic The Graduate. Horace Andy's "Every Tongue Shall Tell" - originally released on Studio One subsidiary Sight 'N' Sound - gets an update with vintage sensibilities on this 10 track package with 2 accompanying 7" releases.
The Graduate & Happy As A Lark brought together 8 veteran and new-school vocalists from Kingston to Chicago to NYC and captured their different interpretations over the riddim - we then picked 4 to be pressed onto wax that cover crucial topics inna dance. A sufferer's tune, a lover's rock, a soundboy killer and a chant to Jah Rastafari.
Dancehall mainstay Burro Banton's 'Say So' chats a motivation to all sufferers to big up yahself and do right in the world while Cosmos Ray's falsetto floats over "They Don't Know" on the B-side singing of universal love and harmony. The second 7" comes big and ready with King Kong issuing a warning to all soundboys who wan test on "We Ah The Number One", while JahDan Blakkamoore chants to Jah on the equally A-side worthy "Give Praises".
The digital-only tracks are nothing to sleep-on either ... Perfect Giddimani comes racing out-of-the-gate with a combination singing & deejay verses to motivate the listener ... Illuminati Congo approaches the track in a completely different manner, invoking almost a tone-poem about the dualities in life ... Veteran deejay General Trees & rookie Tampanese both offer politically motivated lyrics over the riddim while Happy As A Lark CEO King Tony dubs out a horn version on 'Every Horn Shall Dub'.
